Fashion Collides with HaitiPosted by holaratcha in churchy culture, jesus stuff On Jan 25th, 2010
I Hate Church says “thank you” to the people (see end of post) who make this Haiti campaign move. Your support of GesuCristo and our tshirt initiative puts life in a new light, with a whole new cast and crew. It is much more exciting – like drinking Coca Cola for the first time – finding those fizzy bubbles somehow go through your nose and into your brain. One time in a dark galaxy far, far away, someone approached me and asked me the all encompassing “life” question. He said, “if you could do anything in the world and not be paid, what would it be?” Read the rest of this entry »

Haiti The Next 100 DaysPosted by holaratcha in churchy culture, jesus stuff, seconds, minutes, hours On Jan 20th, 2010
I think a great question – posed to me the other day – was when someone asked me “what is grassroots?” They were referring to our GesuCristo T-shirt push, concerning my friends orphanage in St. Marc, Haiti. I paused for a second trying to sort out the best way to answer the question when I finally said, “it’s a small group of people moving toward a goal.” Our goal is $6,000 USD, we are currently at $1,200. The desires buried in our cold, confused hearts sneak up periodically, in an attempt to taste this enigma called, reality. As it crawls out of its hole inch by inch, it is again mercilessly bashed by this world it craves. The life and oxygen it must have is – ironically – beating the living (expletive) out of it. Your life sucks or is not what it’s cracked up to be… now what? Read the rest of this entry »

Levi’s Go Forth ReviewPosted by holaratcha in Superman Skills, lifestyle design, seconds, minutes, hours On Jan 6th, 2010
I HATE Church reviews. Levi’s recently filmed an incredible documentary titled, “Go Forth.” Many of us may have seen snippets in recent commercials, depicting young hippie-esque trailblazers roaming America. This campaign by Levi’s is the most progressive I have seen to date. They have completely changed their focus from selling jeans to empowering young people to go and do something. I watched this piece at least 7 times so far, and each time I rewind my own life and think, what the &*&* am I doing? Read the rest of this entry »
