Ninja Prayer

You avoid it like the plague and  when you participate, you have music blasting, cell phone buzzing, kids screaming or your brain is on life’s merry go round. When was the last time you shut everything down to pray? And why is it when we pray we inevitably want to fall asleep? Weirdest thing, I could have slept for 10 huge hours and still … I open my Bible or kneel and WHAM!!! sound asleep.

Take a look at this portion of scripture concerning a widow who drives an unjust judge crazy with her persistence. Day and night (ala Kid Cudi) she wears him down withe her request for justice until finally, he breaks and grants her wish.

Luke 18:1-8

1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’ “

6And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Here are 2 Ninja tricks for answered prayers. I am not sure if these will work for buddhists, taoists, muslims, agnostics, jehovah witnesses or mormon’s, use with discretion.

1. Fervent desire

You have to want what you are praying for just as the widow woman was desperately seeking justice. Go after it like you did when you wanted to score with your first high school girlfriend. How bad do you really want what you are asking God?

If you want different results, do something different. Make time to pray even if you are saying to yourself I don’t have any time to pray. If you don’t want it bad enough, give up now and just plan on never receiving answered prayers.

Included in your desire is your consistency. In Luke 18 the widow woman was on the judges back day and night, day and night, day and night, day and night until justice was served. Don’t just pray in the morning, pray at night too. Be relentless in your request, there is a few more added details which I will add in the next week.

2.  Pray with a dream

When your praying expect God to reveal the result of your prayer. You may think you are dreaming or in your own fantasy world, this is Faith in action. If you think this is crazy, then you are perfect candidate. Check out our main man Abram as God revealed his dream to him.

Genesis 13:14-15 says: “The LORD said to Abram …,‘Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.”

There is a principle of visualization by faith. Look up at it. “My hand cannot yet touch it but I’ll look up at it and imagine things that are not as if they were.” Then God will give to you and your descendants what you see now.

Genesis 15:5 says: “He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the heavens and count the stars-if indeed you can count them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ ”

Start there kids and watch your prayer life explode. Expect, Expect, Expect, Expect!!! Follow my daily grenades @Holaratcha in Twitosphere.
