Ladies and gentlemen, we have just landed on the moon (or walked on water).

Have you ever stumbled upon greatness? Have you ever received an idea that will rip apart the fabric of society and human existence and push us forward into the next generation of thinking? I have.

You see, God is not just good; he is flat-out ridiculous – ridic, as the cool kids say it. All praise be to Him. All the events leading up to the moment (ruining the Outlaw Preacher timeline trying to promote Pornographic Preacher (by far my most popular post), being reported as spam, getting talked to by @pastornar, being taught Tweetdeck and Twitter etiquette (thanks @sleepthatkills) hashtags and keyword timelines, and seeing the life-changing tweet) seemed random at the time but turned out to be all part of God’s plan.

Twitter Evangelism is exactly that. You simply evangelize through Twitter. How? I’m glad you asked.

Getting Started

Essentially all you need is a Twitter account and, preferably, a Tweetdeck or something similar. Simply add columns on your Tweetdeck with keywords (Christianity, church, Jesus, religion, etc.). If you are using Twitter, just search these words and see what tweets pop up.

Look at the tweets and try to find people sounding discouraged about their faith, struggling with sin, or believing something contrary to the Word. Give them a no-string-attached reply to ignite a conversation. Then, allow them to decide to respond. Do not, under any circumstances, badger!

Implementation

From there, evangelize like you would at the mall or on the street. Be affable, yet stern and Biblically sound. Don’t give your opinion, give the Word in a way that is extremely basic and simple. An opinion is so subjective but a Scripture delivered effectively can make the difference of eternal life.

Every person has a confrontational side of them, especially when Christianity is involved. Don’t let that side get the best of you. If a conversation starts, set your foundation for the subject and then communicate to them how much God loves them and how much they mean to Him. Then, now that they have a softer heart, share the Truth in love. Also, make sure you have your Bible at hand as you want to be as accurate as possible. In addition, add personal stories and experiences to bring the message closer to home and meet them where they are.

Warning

Simple, I know, but unbelievably powerful. Yet, this undertaking is not for the spiritually weak. Only mature, on-fire Christians spending considerable time in the Word and prayer should take this up. I for one will be doing this sparingly if at all. The reason: giving must be done out of your abundance to be truly effective (1 Corinthians 9:27). Otherwise, you are a pounding gong or a clanging symbol from (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Go!

So get on it! Add this to your forms of evangelism; don’t use this as a replacement. Keep in mind this method is not fool proof and people can be up to there same tricks in no time. However, this is a way for leaders in the body of Christ to take back souls for the Kingdom in a way that is mutually amicable. People appreciate an outside voice and often them not knowing you makes them more open. Others close to them may have tried but good news from far away is sweet to the soul. You may be able to minister to someone in a way no one has ministered to them before. So stalk and prey lest they fall into condemnation.

Face It and Get Up!

Guilt. Shame. Insignificant. Unworthy. Flat- out filthy.

Those words hit and they hit home hard. Every moment someone gets caught up in their flesh and stumble into things that they wish they would never have wanted to.

You know those things that make a person stumble and fall? I think we call it, uh-um (as we clear our voice) a mistake? I think we call it a slip- up? A poor decision?

COME ON PEOPLE! Let’s call it what it is. It is just some good ole SIN.

Say it 3x with me. Sin… sin… one last time…sin.

I am glad we got that out of our systems. Now we can begin to face it head on with absolutely no intention to turn and retreat.

Recently, I have been learning just how this thing called repentance really works and what amazing power is in the power of the cross.

HE HAS ALREADY WON THE VICTORY!

I have been challenged lately in my life to live at a level where abusing grace is not an option, but running after living whole in Jesus in every thing I do. I understand that I am human and things are going to come my way. Small, big, even devastating things, because I lose the sight of where I am supposed to be heading! I fall into my flesh. Grace is not a pass card, but a demand for us to strive for greater things.

(Side note: If you are in a drought of your faith go to the Hebrews 12:1-3 and read the message version. Nice little kick in the fanny)

Sin is real and it is what Jesus came to claim victory over through the most atrocious death of all time. However, sin is a moment for us to turn our dirt into a miracle. The instant that realization takes place is the first step to true repentance.

I WANT TO FACE MY FAILURES HEAD ON AND NEVER LOOK BACK AT THEM.

The first step is coming clean. Facing the facts. Calling sin a sin.

Followed by asking the Lord to heal and forgive. Declaring what happened was not what He desires for us.

Then, and this is so vitally important, we NEVER look back. We never live there. We never stay there. We stand up!

Joshua 7:10 – “The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?”

Get up. Fight. Stand Strong. Live in His grace. Never look back.

Declare these words today.

Ever had to confront a friend, hot girl, colleague, or boyfriend about something they were doing that was wrong? ‘Yeah…that didn’t go well,’ you may say, or you may have reacted, ‘I did, and it was the greatest experience of my life.’ That’s good too, but whether you signed up for it or not, confronting others is in our job descriptions. Let me hoist up an example. So your best friend is walking with a blindfold over the edge of a mountain in the Swiss Alps during your summer vacation following both your senior years of Harvard School of Law. You probably had a good time in Europe, maybe a few laughs, and you don’t want to hurt his feelings, but instead you say, ‘Hey, dude. You’re about to kill yourself at preposterous altitudes, bro.’

Now let me give you a real-life example that happened to me, in real life. Talked to this one back-slidden Christian girl at school about her lifestyle. I, Victor Nigerian Middle Name Adeleke, saw my friend about to fall off a mountain into a valley overlooking a pit of snakes and sharpened stakes. What compelled me to make her temporarily uncomfortable? I cared about her; she was going to kill herself. This is in no way an exaggeration because it only takes one little itty bitty drop of arsenic to kill a man. All she needed was another day denying Jesus, and that would have been sufficient to her ultimate demise! ‘That’s too intense, bro. Loosen up your belt.’ No, man. If you love your friends, you family, your brother, your wife, you will tell and warn them that something is up! Can I get an Amen from some Christians in this house?!

I attend a math and science Academy just shy of Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Tom Arnold is my history instructor who happens to be a PhD and former Yale professor as his first teaching job – brilliant dude. The first topics of his class were the acts of Socrates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as gadflies who brought the truths to people who vehemently rejected them because of the discomfort it brings when you challenge a way that people think. Both men were executed, but I’m sure they had the satisfaction of a job well done. Truth hurts ladies and gentlemen, but similarly to Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” whenever people experience the truth, they’ll be glad they heard it, even if you are dead by then. And by the way, screw timing. Just say it.

Follow me @PagingDrVictor for delicious insight.

I picture that guy in those ridiculous Axe commercials where he looks like he woke
up after a long, long night. Suddenly, he gets this body wash out of the sky that
makes him appear to be the next Brad Pitt and the ladies flock all over him.

This image and many others come to mind right away when I think of the latest and
greatest scents that attract the opposite sex. However,
what I am talking about is the scent you are giving off to those around you. What is the aroma of Jesus that you are spreading.

What are people seeing in you? How do you smell any different than this world?

Could society point you out of a line up? “Yup that is the one, that is the Christian
that lives out their faith daily, separate their lives from this world, and show a love
that is contagious?”

Do you know that Jesus wants to operate in the center of your life? Sure you have
heard this before. Did you know that He wants to control every inch of you. “Oh
great it’s a dictatorship.”

Listen, He ain’t a control freak; He just created you and
has that power to be that way. “Its all about the power-trip!” Oh you need another
reason to convince you, He died for you on a cross. A dirty, old, stank-filled cross.
For you. Fair enough?

He no longer wants to allow the world to set the standards but you/me/Christians
to be setting the standard of this globe. It is time for us to step up and be bold to
change the smell of the body of Christ.

The world is lying, cheating, stealing, and killing and we keep letting it happen. STOP
TRYING TO FIT IN.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good,
pleasing, and perfect will.” –Romans 12:2

Oh you are scared of people hating you, disowning you, cutting you out of
everything you ever had. The world is going to hate you. Sorry. Do you have the guts
for that or you content with keeping that nasty scent you have going on right now?

“The place of rejection by others is the place of acceptance by God.” – Rafael Castillo

Chew on that for a bit.

First night in Brooklyn both cars got broken into. All they got were Bibles and Hillsong CDs.I would have given them freely.
This is a sequel.
If I spit on you pretend its the annointing.
Glad to be hear with Hip Hop Jesus aka Anthony Thompson aka @ThompsonWrites.
My guy Kent Munsey @KentMunsey.

That Girl Is Poison Part 2

There was a time where hip hop was good before this generation hijacked it.

Take out that girl and insert that thing in your life that you know you need to delete, cut off, stop listening, it’s poison.
That ____ is poison.
There is a life and death battle going on tonight on your life.
The devil hates eveything about you and will do everyhting he can to drop a little bit of poison into your life.
You must do everything to fight it.
We do not have anymore time to rehabilitate Christians.

You have to have a certain amount of notes from Connect to get into heaven.

When God makes demands on your life it is for a really good reason.
Case in point___> Delilah
Numbers 6:1-3

Many people want blessing and fruit and love but hate when He makes demands.
When God makes a demand on your life He has an end in mind.
If you sit by somone you like, get a highlighter and mark up your Bible. Show it off to all the other single guys/girls. They’ll know you’re Spiritual.
You may not understand why God says something but you must trust He has your best interest in mind.
We have a generation that wants God to map everything out.

When we start listening and obeying it gets awesome.
If I can just obey God I can change somebody’s life.
If you just did what God called you to do you won’t need a microphone.

Haha I said ,”Lord I’m on my way to build the church, I ain’t got time for people“.
All the confirmation I need is Your Son on the cross.
I got some mountains but I know the mountain mover.
If your heart is tuned to the voice of God you can’t lose that passion.

We are of the generation that just needs to go.
God if You speak to me I’m going to listen.

2 Poisons to Put to Death

1.Comfort
Falling in love with your position will drain the passion out of your purpose.
We have somehow made churches filled with comfort.

Matthew 11:28-30

The Message (MSG)

28-30“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

When you meet Jesus your life should change.
Rest is not comfort. The demands of the Holy Spirit make you uncomfortable. That’s good!
At no time should you be sitting in church as a Christian and there is no passion.

A relationship with Jesus with no passion is like a Ferrari with no keys.
It’s like a donut but not Krispy Kreme. It’s a donut but it ain’t right.
Take yourself away from the church lights and confort and get on your knees and seek Jesus.

Beware of realtionships, habits, religion, that put you to sleep. Because your wake up call will come a little to late and you’ll be asleep.
Judges 16:22

Find the stuff to make you feel uncomfortable and do it.
We make our people jump and raise hands because you can’t be cool jumping up and down.
You should have people stealing stuff in church. It shows you your church is reaching the right type of people.
Don’t clap now we want it to be genuine.

No angel or burning bush. It was the ability to be uncomfortable.
Lord, make me uncomfortable.
It may be uncomfortable but it’s right.
I’m going to come to church when I feel like it and when I don’t.

2. Finality
Even if you think you’ve lost it, you still got it cuz Jesus is still with you

Judges 16:22

The Message (MSG)

21-22 The Philistines grabbed him, gouged out his eyes, and took him down to Gaza. They shackled him in irons and put him to the work of grinding in the prison. But his hair, though cut off, began to grow again.

Samson has amazing potential, wastes it, end of the story?
The hair on his head began to grow again.
We live in a generation that has stopped dreaming.
We are created to dream.

We have failed in a dream and someone came close and whispered it’s over.Finality!
With finality, it’s over. Why not then? Why not do _____?
If Jesus is in it, it ain’t over.
The hair on his head is symbloic. It grows from the inside. Your dream can be cut off but it keeps growing.
It’s all coming back.

This girl is coming straight from kemo and we got people missing church cuz it’s raining.

Good judges do a Hell of a lot of Research

“Judge – Don’t be Judgmental.”

Dr. Thompson – I agree. I mean, what good do we express when we persecute “sinners” with our
judgement…

… we make them stronger in their cause: sin.

If you look at history when the Christians were persecuted by the Romans, it made the Christians stronger. In fact,
any movement that encounters persecution usually and eventually grows to be greater than
they who persecuted them – Constantine.

So today, what good, law abiding, Christians love to do is pick a coalition of sinners. From these sinners, they condemn, judge, and suppress them exclusively. The effect of this – they get stronger in their sin. Then when they leave we lazily call it offense and write them off as one of the damned. But maybe, just maybe, we may have had some part in their departure…

What did Jesus do? – He won them over with love and kindness, and made very clear where He
stood in His standards. He also went to the Jews who grew up in Temple (church) but got tired
of the mess that the religious made… the Jewish “offended”… Deep.

What do we do? – We make assumptions without seeking to understand and becoming an
instrument of God’s peace. We lazily and heavy handedly allow our once brother or sister to go
away broken – without even attempting to get in their face.

Judge, but don’t be judgemental – But before you drop the gavel on the reputation of a person,
make sure you have done your due diligence of research. And not research from the same
publisher – maybe try doing research that involves multiple sources. You never know, maybe
you can win a brother or sister back to Christ? Maybe you could actually be the salt and light
they need?

Maybe you should research and think a little – before you judge.

Chew on this (What up St. Cajetan Catholic Grammar School):

The prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Proverbs 25:2 (The Message)

2 God delights in concealing things;
scientists delight in discovering things.

Proverbs 25:2 (NIV)
2 It is God’s privilege to conceal things
and the king’s privilege to discover them.

Luke 6:37 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will
all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.

Rob Bell has constructed a fascinating new book titled Love Wins. I referred to him a few days ago as the Christian version of Charlie Sheen strictly because of his ability to cause commotion. His book Love Wins addresses heaven and hell. Both of these topics are layered with controversy and opinions. Who is to say who is right and who is wrong? It does seem difficult to make snap judgements concerning places you and I have never visited.

What I decided to do is post excerpts of his book. These excerpts are designed to give you a better more colorful picture of what Mr. Bell is trying to say. I’m sure we have all heard snippets of what he “is trying” to say from a friend. You read for yourself and my hope is you buy for yourself. It’s difficult to make quick judgements of heaven and hell and it’s just as difficult to judge a book simply by a tweet you read.

EXCERPTS FROM LOVE WINS BY ROB BELL

The prophet Amos promised that everything will be repaired and restored and rebuilt and “new wine will drip from the mountains” (chap. 9). Life in the age to come. If this sounds like heaven on earth, that’s because it is. Literally. A couple of observations about the prophets’ promises regarding life in the age to come. First, they spoke about “all the nations.” That’s everybody. That’s all those different skin colors, languages, dialects, and accents; all those kinds of food and music; all those customs, habits, patterns, clothing, traditions, and ways of celebrating— multiethnic, multisensory, multieverything. That’s an extraordinarily complex, interconnected, and diverse reality, a reality in which individual identities aren’t lost or repressed, but embraced and celebrated. An expansive unity that goes beyond and yet fully embraces staggering levels of diversity. A racist would be miserable in the world to come. Second, one of the most striking aspects of the pictures the prophets used to describe this reality is how earthy it is. Wine and crops and grain and people and feasts and buildings and homes. It’s here they were talking about, this world, the one we know—but rescued, transformed, and renewed.

When we hear people saying they can’t believe in a God who gets angry—yes, they can. How should God react to a child being forced into prostitution? How should God feel about a country starving while warlords hoard the food supply? What kind of God wouldn’t get angry at a financial scheme that robs thousands of people of their life savings? And that is the promise of the prophets in the age to come: God acts. Decisively. On behalf of everybody who’s ever been stepped on by the machine, exploited, abused, forgotten, or mistreated. God puts an end to it. God says, “Enough.”

Around a billion people in the world today do not have access to clean water. People will have access to clean water in the age to come, and so working for clean-water access for all is participating now in the life of the age to come. That’s what happens when the future is dragged into the present. It often appears that those who talk the most about going to heaven when you die talk the least about bringing heaven to earth right now, as Jesus taught us to pray: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” At the same time, it often appears that those who talk the most about relieving suffering now talk the least about heaven when we die. Jesus teaches us to pursue the life of heaven now and also then, anticipating the day when earth and heaven are one.

From time to time, I bump into people with incredible talents. This past week, I bumped into Mike. I’ve bumped into thousands of people in my time and I always try to take something positive out of the bump. In this instance, Mike just so happened to have a blog. Here is me bumpin’ Mike’s blog. Hope you enjoy some Saturday Morning Linguistics. Feel free to check out a previous poetic, rhythm post, Monday Poem.

Before we get into Mike’s post – be prepared to re-read. I mentioned linguistics. This is not a quick read. Let it soak in the barrels of your conscious. Enjoy it. O, and if you need to be reminded of what to be thankful for, check out this oldie but goodie.

I was on my way home from the gym this evening and noticed flashing lights ahead. I’ll be real honest and state that I could have made a right turn and avoided what looked like police, ambulance and fire engine flashing lights. I really could have totally avoided them, but I didn’t. I had NERD’s new album semi-blasting and my endorphines were energetically bouncing in my veins from 40 minutes of body punishment.

I stared at the lights, then at the right turn I normally make, then back at the flashing lights. I held my grip on the steering wheel and kept straight, directly into the flashing lights of mystery. After I made the decision I started to feel sort of morbid about the whole idea. I mean, why should I be attracted to something that could be bad? It could be a car accident or maybe a vehicle was trapped in a blizzard embankment (read previous post concerning blizzard) and neither one of these options are positive – so why did I make this decision?

Mystery, intrigue, flashing lights, injury, danger, death, blood, horror or too much NERD blasting in my brain. The point is, we all have a magnetic force inside us that causes us to want to see what happened. Sort of like that curiosity killed the cat notion.

Just 10 minutes before this flashing light incident I found myself on a treadmill with my eyes transfixed on CNN showing clips of Egyptians running over other Egyptians with vehicles, what the expletive is that? And why was I staring at it over and over again? How could I watch humanity being destroyed and then stare again and again and again? More importantly, why did CNN keep repeating Egyptians driving over Egyptians with vehicles? I don’t know what is worse, CNN replaying cars and vans driving over people; or my zombie condition that caused me to continue to stare?

I realized that flashing lights are a hook. They may come in the form of police lights, ambulance lights, fire engine lights, lights in the club, strobe lights, concert lights or just you in your room flippin the light switch on and off really fast. They get your attention. They seize every bit of attention you have. You can be having a sexy moment with your boyfriend or girlfriend (which you shouldn’t be) and BAM the police lights go on. Bet you $500 right now; you both pop up to see what is going on. It’s called FLS or flashing light syndrome. They cannot be denied nor will they.

Most of us will battle this syndrome for the rest of our lives, unless of course you are blind or your name is Kanye West, Lady GAGA, Justin Bieber, the Olson Twins, President Barack Obama or OJ Simpson. Please consult your physician or healthcare provider if you feel you suffer from this disease.

Some people bash churches that use flashing lights and some churches bash churches that use flashing lights. I hear some say that it shouldn’t be a U2 concert (if your church looks like a U2 concert, please tell me right now and I would like to personally pay to see it). Some think church shouldn’t be too entertaining and I’m not too sure what to make of all these allegations.

I’d say it like this. If I went to see John Mayer in concert (key word “if”), I certainly wouldn’t expect a laser light show. I would expect a stool maybe a few motion lights, some smoke but nothing that would be distracting from a wizard casting spells on his guitar. I would want to hear and see everything he is doing and preferably in slow motion. I would definitely request instant replays throughout the concert, but that is just me. If they gave red challenge flags like do in the NFL, that would be me throwing that bad boy right at him.

Now take all of you Bieber Fever fans. You just can’t put an entertaining, 16 year old american pop czar on a stage with a wooden stool and some smoke. This kid needs 400 motion lights, LED boards, back up singers, back up dancers, back up midgets, back up dancers for the dancers and Justin probably needs a body double just to handle all the hype that is happening. You expect fireworks, lasers, holograms, space astronauts, John Lennon reincarnated and a few of those transformers driving around the parking lot. His concert is like Disney World making out with Avatar but cheating on Avatar with Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Sorry for getting carried away with all the lights. Maybe it is a case of what gains attention in your area, your church, your people, your kids, your midgets or your neighborhood Starbuck barista? Feel free to add if you think lights are good or evil.
