A new revelation can be compared to gas: you need it to move forward but it costs a little of your comfort to “buy” it. Embrace revelation from Almighty God as you allow me to influence your thoughts on the things of this world. You’ll get something great, and may I give a shout-out to my brother @ThompsonWrites for the wonderful series “Heart for the House.”

Yours truly returned from a 19-day European excursion organized by People to People Ambassador Programs. It was by far the epoch of all epic epochs. My group of 27 high school students traveled France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, in which I had the opportunity to also live with an Austrian family for a few days.

My highlights: gondola ride through the curious canals of Venice; Michelangelo’s David in Florence, Italy; going to Austrian high school and playing football (not throwball) every day; and standing over Peter’s tomb in St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. AMAZING! We also heard good speakers such as ambassadors, a holocaust survivor, excellent tour guides, angry Italians, etc.

Upon returning home and unpacking my baggage, I crossed some change in Euros and Swiss Francs, and for whatever reason, I had the strange urge to spend them. Sadly, I couldn’t spend them because I was in Highland, Indiana. It hit me a day later when I couldn’t sleep late that night, or early that morning: Those coins (almost seven Euros and almost three Swiss Francs) are worthless in Chicagoland just like things on this earth are useless for Heaven!

Personally, this revelation became really good practical knowledge for me. Why chase stuff when it’s only equivalent to a souvenir in heavenly reality like my European currency? Now, you material people shouldn’t lose your shirts. In fact, fully clad reading is encouraged in most social circles. I still like stuff, but hopefully it’s not a motive for me to live. God likes to give me stuff too, so it must be good. Think about how He tricked out Solomon! I don’t want to steal from @BlackBradPitt, but chew on this for clarification:

Jeremiah 9:23-24 The Lord says, “Let not the…rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me.“

Mark 8:36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

Job 31:24-28 (Job said) If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’ if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained…so that my heart was secretly enticed…then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.

Revelation 3:17 You say, ‘I am rich, with everything I want; I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that spiritually you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked (Jesus talking to the early church of Laodicea, the Lukewarm Church).

1 Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.

Principle #1: The poorest man in the world is the man who has nothing but money.

Principle #2: The payoff for meekness and fear of the Lord is plenty and honor and a satisfying life. Proverbs 22:4

Principle #3: Human Life Value is everything you are when all of your material resources are stripped away…My most important asset is ME. – Garrett Gunderson

Final truth: The desire for “more” can be a destructive force to your life and faith. – Dr. Robb Thompson, senior pastor @FHClife

You can follow me, @PagingDrVictor, on Twitter for delicious insight.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have just landed on the moon (or walked on water).

Have you ever stumbled upon greatness? Have you ever received an idea that will rip apart the fabric of society and human existence and push us forward into the next generation of thinking? I have.

You see, God is not just good; he is flat-out ridiculous – ridic, as the cool kids say it. All praise be to Him. All the events leading up to the moment (ruining the Outlaw Preacher timeline trying to promote Pornographic Preacher (by far my most popular post), being reported as spam, getting talked to by @pastornar, being taught Tweetdeck and Twitter etiquette (thanks @sleepthatkills) hashtags and keyword timelines, and seeing the life-changing tweet) seemed random at the time but turned out to be all part of God’s plan.

Twitter Evangelism is exactly that. You simply evangelize through Twitter. How? I’m glad you asked.

Getting Started

Essentially all you need is a Twitter account and, preferably, a Tweetdeck or something similar. Simply add columns on your Tweetdeck with keywords (Christianity, church, Jesus, religion, etc.). If you are using Twitter, just search these words and see what tweets pop up.

Look at the tweets and try to find people sounding discouraged about their faith, struggling with sin, or believing something contrary to the Word. Give them a no-string-attached reply to ignite a conversation. Then, allow them to decide to respond. Do not, under any circumstances, badger!

Implementation

From there, evangelize like you would at the mall or on the street. Be affable, yet stern and Biblically sound. Don’t give your opinion, give the Word in a way that is extremely basic and simple. An opinion is so subjective but a Scripture delivered effectively can make the difference of eternal life.

Every person has a confrontational side of them, especially when Christianity is involved. Don’t let that side get the best of you. If a conversation starts, set your foundation for the subject and then communicate to them how much God loves them and how much they mean to Him. Then, now that they have a softer heart, share the Truth in love. Also, make sure you have your Bible at hand as you want to be as accurate as possible. In addition, add personal stories and experiences to bring the message closer to home and meet them where they are.

Warning

Simple, I know, but unbelievably powerful. Yet, this undertaking is not for the spiritually weak. Only mature, on-fire Christians spending considerable time in the Word and prayer should take this up. I for one will be doing this sparingly if at all. The reason: giving must be done out of your abundance to be truly effective (1 Corinthians 9:27). Otherwise, you are a pounding gong or a clanging symbol from (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Go!

So get on it! Add this to your forms of evangelism; don’t use this as a replacement. Keep in mind this method is not fool proof and people can be up to there same tricks in no time. However, this is a way for leaders in the body of Christ to take back souls for the Kingdom in a way that is mutually amicable. People appreciate an outside voice and often them not knowing you makes them more open. Others close to them may have tried but good news from far away is sweet to the soul. You may be able to minister to someone in a way no one has ministered to them before. So stalk and prey lest they fall into condemnation.

What’s not to love about pink diamonds. Not only do they sparkle but for some odd reason they seem to speak while they sparkle. Most of us will probably only see them in magazines or passing jewelry stores. Nevertheless, in my opinion, they are pretty dope.

I recently led a discussion concerning the obstacles of life. When I asked my wife @ChantelleLucie what I should talk about – she fired a rapid response. Tell them about us. (ummm can someone say narcissism?)

What she meant was, that I should talk about how we managed to date while on different continents. My wife is Australian and hails from Sydney. When we met, I was suffering in Laguna Beach, Ca (such a horrible place to live {sarcasm}). So the word obstacle means a few different things for a young couple in love.

Obstacle 1: Time Zone

The easiest way to find out what time it is Sydney, if you are in the CST zone is to add 3 hours and then flip the time.

Example: It is 10:20am CST, means I add 3 hours to equal 1:20pm. Then I flip am to pm which brings the time to 1:20am the following day. Boom, add that to new things you learned today.

Obstacle 2: Mobile Phone

Calling Australia doesn’t fall into your friends and family package. It’s expensive and when your talking to the girl you love, you know how long those phone calls can go.

I know what your saying, what about Skype. Skype is great if you are sitting behind a computer. Skype doesn’t work if you are traveling around the world or going to and from work. We resolved this issue with heaps of calling cards.

Obstacle 3: Language

Yes, the Australian accent is amazing. Yes, there are times when I have no idea what my wife is talking about. In fact, it usually ends up ok until she finds out later that the words she is using is not applicable in the USA. (humor) A great example is “Fire Brigade” – obviously never used in the USA.

Obstacle 4: I’ll skip a few and head to the Fiance’ bit.

How was I going to propose to the woman of my life? I had heard and read about so many outlandish proposals that my creativity had run dry. I can remember flying from LAX – SYD with pink diamonds in my pocket. These diamonds were burning a whole in my pants pocket. It was the most expensive item I had ever purchased. And, it was the most expensive item I purchased with zero insurance. Hence, I was nervous for 14 hours.

I was nervous about the pink diamonds and nervous about how I was going to propose. I didn’t want to mess anything up. I didn’t want to disappoint. But at the same time, I didn’t have any friends in Australia who could help me plan this proposal. I was stuck on an airplane, with pink diamonds and nobody to bounce ideas off of. In addition, I was nervous that these diamonds would dash out of my pocket and disappear into a passengers pocket.

The obstacle was there and what I discovered was that it was all my fault. I was creating the obstacle. I was building my own pressure. No one was laying it on me but me. After several hours of staring in the dark in economy, I had a plan.

I decided there would be no better place than to deliver the pink diamond to Chantelle at Sydney airport. No planning was needed. All I had to do was get on one knee in front of a multitude of strangers, hold on to the ring with all my might and ask her to marry me.

I possess a heart that murmurs with the pains of others. You’re probably much the same way. A friend needs money to pursue a dream, a family member attempts to study abroad or a person you recently met is jobless. It hurts. It hurts to think of what others cannot do with a shortage of money. Of course our mind drifts away from the pain of others to focus on the needs of “I.”

I’m not saying this is the only way to aid a murmuring heart but it worked for me.

I started to look at my life as a business and act accordingly. If I want to give, do I have something to give? Easy answer to that one, “yes.” The easy thought when the word giving is mentioned is the debit card in your pocket but what about time or talents? Think about that for a second: You want to give. Can your want be fulfilled? Do you have inventory to give?

A few weeks back my wife ordered something from Amazon. She is an incredible online shopper, fierce and vigilant. The mouse becomes her willing butler taking her from site to site. She finally found what she wanted and Amazon had the best price and shipping costs. She places the order and tells me later when I return home from work.

I told her job well done and that was it. About a week later, I asked her about the purchase she made. As soon as I said something she began to tell me how frustrated she was with a certain vendor from Amazon. I was surprised because we buy from Amazon frequently.

She went on to tell me how she emailed the vendor discovered they were out of stock. Apparently they waited almost a week to tell her they were out of stock. My wife’s frustration builds and that’s when I come to the rescue and hand her a bar of 85% dark chocolate, give her a passionate “Notebook’esque” kiss and tell her everything is ok.

Are you trying to give something when you don’t have it in stock to give?

http://500px.com/photo/123655

Face It and Get Up!

Guilt. Shame. Insignificant. Unworthy. Flat- out filthy.

Those words hit and they hit home hard. Every moment someone gets caught up in their flesh and stumble into things that they wish they would never have wanted to.

You know those things that make a person stumble and fall? I think we call it, uh-um (as we clear our voice) a mistake? I think we call it a slip- up? A poor decision?

COME ON PEOPLE! Let’s call it what it is. It is just some good ole SIN.

Say it 3x with me. Sin… sin… one last time…sin.

I am glad we got that out of our systems. Now we can begin to face it head on with absolutely no intention to turn and retreat.

Recently, I have been learning just how this thing called repentance really works and what amazing power is in the power of the cross.

HE HAS ALREADY WON THE VICTORY!

I have been challenged lately in my life to live at a level where abusing grace is not an option, but running after living whole in Jesus in every thing I do. I understand that I am human and things are going to come my way. Small, big, even devastating things, because I lose the sight of where I am supposed to be heading! I fall into my flesh. Grace is not a pass card, but a demand for us to strive for greater things.

(Side note: If you are in a drought of your faith go to the Hebrews 12:1-3 and read the message version. Nice little kick in the fanny)

Sin is real and it is what Jesus came to claim victory over through the most atrocious death of all time. However, sin is a moment for us to turn our dirt into a miracle. The instant that realization takes place is the first step to true repentance.

I WANT TO FACE MY FAILURES HEAD ON AND NEVER LOOK BACK AT THEM.

The first step is coming clean. Facing the facts. Calling sin a sin.

Followed by asking the Lord to heal and forgive. Declaring what happened was not what He desires for us.

Then, and this is so vitally important, we NEVER look back. We never live there. We never stay there. We stand up!

Joshua 7:10 – “The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?”

Get up. Fight. Stand Strong. Live in His grace. Never look back.

Declare these words today.

Have you ever wanted to redo the past? Have you ever thought you could rewind the years? It’s interesting, I tell myself that all the time, “If I could just have done this different – oh and this too – everything would’ve changed.”

Urbanites The Years

Now do I think that you will take things to the extent of closing your eyes without a fight? Probably not. But just in case, cheer up emo kid.

On a more serious note, what is the past? The past is a series of events that allegedly happened open to one’s interpretation that cannot be altered. You may say, “but you don’t what I’ve been through.” No I don’t! I really don’t.

Isn’t it funny that we reminisce about the past as we read a blog post on our laptop or cellular device, afterwards we turn on our 36 inch LED TV watching our cable programming with HBO and Cinemax and afterwards hop into our $15,000 car to go get ice cream as we drive to and fro from the burbs?

Haha. I think how horrible my past is and I look at myself right now and smile. For the most part, have everything I need and most of want I want and I’m not even rich bi- gotcha. You know after all the s— of my past, I’m still here! Everything was effed up but I’m still standing, breathing, eating, tweeting, and watching the premier league. Come on now I have friends who can stand me, a family who loves me but has funny way of showing it, and a darn good life worth living.

Just like passing from a run-down town into an affluent area, if we spend all our time squinting through the back mirror we would never see the sun shining, birds singing, and the cute little grandma driving 20 in a 45.

You got one life to live. Don’t spend it reminiscing and regretting. Suck every little drop of it. You can’t rewind the years. So live your life in fast forward.

The last month of my life I have devoted myself to taking Urbanites to the top so you better peep them at urbanitesmusic.com to get their cds, merchandise, documentary on our latest album The Years, as well as a free download of our latest album The Years on our Facebook page right now or I will cut you. And another thing, if you know what’s good for you check out their videos on Vimeo that I have personally edited now! I’m Nigerian, I might just pull out a spear or something.

In a future post we will go in depth on the next Coldplay from Chi-town but for now we will hold in you in deep, longing, captivating suspense.

Catch me in Twitosphere, Michael Adeleke, @AdelekeCreates if you’re into delicious insight, dry humor, and footy. If not, don’t bother.

Ever had to confront a friend, hot girl, colleague, or boyfriend about something they were doing that was wrong? ‘Yeah…that didn’t go well,’ you may say, or you may have reacted, ‘I did, and it was the greatest experience of my life.’ That’s good too, but whether you signed up for it or not, confronting others is in our job descriptions. Let me hoist up an example. So your best friend is walking with a blindfold over the edge of a mountain in the Swiss Alps during your summer vacation following both your senior years of Harvard School of Law. You probably had a good time in Europe, maybe a few laughs, and you don’t want to hurt his feelings, but instead you say, ‘Hey, dude. You’re about to kill yourself at preposterous altitudes, bro.’

Now let me give you a real-life example that happened to me, in real life. Talked to this one back-slidden Christian girl at school about her lifestyle. I, Victor Nigerian Middle Name Adeleke, saw my friend about to fall off a mountain into a valley overlooking a pit of snakes and sharpened stakes. What compelled me to make her temporarily uncomfortable? I cared about her; she was going to kill herself. This is in no way an exaggeration because it only takes one little itty bitty drop of arsenic to kill a man. All she needed was another day denying Jesus, and that would have been sufficient to her ultimate demise! ‘That’s too intense, bro. Loosen up your belt.’ No, man. If you love your friends, you family, your brother, your wife, you will tell and warn them that something is up! Can I get an Amen from some Christians in this house?!

I attend a math and science Academy just shy of Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Tom Arnold is my history instructor who happens to be a PhD and former Yale professor as his first teaching job – brilliant dude. The first topics of his class were the acts of Socrates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as gadflies who brought the truths to people who vehemently rejected them because of the discomfort it brings when you challenge a way that people think. Both men were executed, but I’m sure they had the satisfaction of a job well done. Truth hurts ladies and gentlemen, but similarly to Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” whenever people experience the truth, they’ll be glad they heard it, even if you are dead by then. And by the way, screw timing. Just say it.

Follow me @PagingDrVictor for delicious insight.

Well it’s that time of the year. No, not to go back to mind-numbing universities, long sleeve shirts, or THROWBALL. Yeah I know you didn’t like that last one.

This is the time of year to focus on the real football. The football played not with the hands but with the feet. The football that puts an entire city on the edge of their seat and makes grown men throw themselves around like little girls. The football that can excite a town, a nation, a world. My friends, FOOTBALL IS BACK!

Now you may say, “Soccer is so boring” in your typical, whiny, American accent. But as usual, YOU ARE WRONG!

You see, all your life some crackpot “friend” or “relative” told you that you should watch the MLS and the World Cup. Now don’t get me wrong, the MLS is improving and the World Cup has national pride. But that literally is the equivalent of watching Double A baseball and no-hitters all the time. Yeah, not very exciting.

The footy you should be watching resides in the heart of England. The Barclays Premier League – oh what a majestic name – is the most exciting, entertaining, enthralling league on the planet. Many a friend who had erroneously hated soccer now watch more Premier League footy than I do. I’m telling you, it’s contagious.

So on Saturday mornings, don’t sleep in or get your car washed. Turn your television to ESPN2 or Fox Soccer if you have it and watch the world’s most popular domestic league. Also there are many websites on line where you can stream the games for free. If interested, we can discuss in greater detail at an undisclosed location in the future (Twitter).

Let us not kid ourselves as Americans. If the ENTIRE world loves one game, maybe they are on to something. Eh?

So now me and my fellow I Hate Church writers will try to predict the future before your very eyes. Enjoy.

I titled this post using words such as Cosmo, Vogue and US Weekly because of those pre purchase moments at the grocery store. As we stare at gum, candy and batteries, the all encompassing magazine rack whistles our way.

Cosmo pitches how to bag the hottest guy in under 3 minutes. Vogue explains the hottest trends and how you think you will achieve them. US Weekly unpacks the celebrity life as if they lived in our neighborhood. All of them are pitching and all of them succeed. They are remarkable at selling what most will never achieve – and how do they do this?

I’ll let you figure out the sales mechanism. What I want to share with you are notes from my bride explaining how to bag a girl in under 3 minutes (my title). This is one of those holy grail moments for the male species. A young, virile woman is disclosing secrets into the inner sanctum of a woman’s brain. Dudes, this is your summer moment of closure.

If there was a girl you were looking to impress, check out these Love & Hates first. This may change the course of your destiny, good luck.

I’ve been thinking about the ancient Roman coliseum lately and had a few stories collide in my brain. The first image was of a gladiator, the second, a blood thirsty crowd and the third, well, read on to complete the collision.

So after our hero gets the sh*t kicked out of him by his warrior opponent, our hero looks up and decides to refuse to allow the blood hungry crowd sink his spirits. He instead decides to do work. He begins to speak to his God and find his zone. The stadium went silent in his head.
He begins a slow trot around the coliseum floor collecting his thoughts, strategy and allowing his body to regain strength.

He begins to recite his God’s ancient words of wisdom and truth. He disconnected from
the “boos” and criticisms of the hostile crowd. He is now obsessed with
silencing the crowd.

His only pleasure is to use his superior strength to sway the crowd back on his side. He decided against losing. He decided (like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – see the book of Daniel Chapters 1-
3) that even if His God was going to leave him on the field to take the boos from the crowd and
meet his demise – all alone; He would not be intimidated. Even if they killed
him, he would not fear them. He knew that His spirit would live on and shoot to the Heavens
where he belonged.

He knew there he would be welcomed by even a larger crowd
of legends who loved Him and loved His God.

So our hero trotted along the walls of the coliseum floor, as if to do a victory lap and so all could
see him before he made his move. As he trotted, he put his helmet that was under his armpit,
back on his head. He grasped the sweaty raw hide handle of his last sword at his side, felt his
belt and breastplate to make sure that they were still securely fastened.

The warrior picked up
a shield that lay against the walls as he trotted by that section of the rounded wall, and stared
down his opponent who stood congregated in the middle of the battlefield. After he completed
his trot around the coliseum battlefield, He gloriously broke into a furious sprint toward his
familiar adversaries.

Message: You will not be intimidated by anyone who sets themselves against you because
your God will deliver you… AND EVEN IF HE DOES NOT, you still refuse to be intimidated,
shaken, moved, fretful, worry, or break a sweat over anything that seeks to destroy you , your
reputation, or your fruit in Christ Jesus. Amen.
