Ladies and gentlemen, we have just landed on the moon (or walked on water).

Have you ever stumbled upon greatness? Have you ever received an idea that will rip apart the fabric of society and human existence and push us forward into the next generation of thinking? I have.

You see, God is not just good; he is flat-out ridiculous – ridic, as the cool kids say it. All praise be to Him. All the events leading up to the moment (ruining the Outlaw Preacher timeline trying to promote Pornographic Preacher (by far my most popular post), being reported as spam, getting talked to by @pastornar, being taught Tweetdeck and Twitter etiquette (thanks @sleepthatkills) hashtags and keyword timelines, and seeing the life-changing tweet) seemed random at the time but turned out to be all part of God’s plan.

Twitter Evangelism is exactly that. You simply evangelize through Twitter. How? I’m glad you asked.

Getting Started

Essentially all you need is a Twitter account and, preferably, a Tweetdeck or something similar. Simply add columns on your Tweetdeck with keywords (Christianity, church, Jesus, religion, etc.). If you are using Twitter, just search these words and see what tweets pop up.

Look at the tweets and try to find people sounding discouraged about their faith, struggling with sin, or believing something contrary to the Word. Give them a no-string-attached reply to ignite a conversation. Then, allow them to decide to respond. Do not, under any circumstances, badger!

Implementation

From there, evangelize like you would at the mall or on the street. Be affable, yet stern and Biblically sound. Don’t give your opinion, give the Word in a way that is extremely basic and simple. An opinion is so subjective but a Scripture delivered effectively can make the difference of eternal life.

Every person has a confrontational side of them, especially when Christianity is involved. Don’t let that side get the best of you. If a conversation starts, set your foundation for the subject and then communicate to them how much God loves them and how much they mean to Him. Then, now that they have a softer heart, share the Truth in love. Also, make sure you have your Bible at hand as you want to be as accurate as possible. In addition, add personal stories and experiences to bring the message closer to home and meet them where they are.

Warning

Simple, I know, but unbelievably powerful. Yet, this undertaking is not for the spiritually weak. Only mature, on-fire Christians spending considerable time in the Word and prayer should take this up. I for one will be doing this sparingly if at all. The reason: giving must be done out of your abundance to be truly effective (1 Corinthians 9:27). Otherwise, you are a pounding gong or a clanging symbol from (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Go!

So get on it! Add this to your forms of evangelism; don’t use this as a replacement. Keep in mind this method is not fool proof and people can be up to there same tricks in no time. However, this is a way for leaders in the body of Christ to take back souls for the Kingdom in a way that is mutually amicable. People appreciate an outside voice and often them not knowing you makes them more open. Others close to them may have tried but good news from far away is sweet to the soul. You may be able to minister to someone in a way no one has ministered to them before. So stalk and prey lest they fall into condemnation.

By @AdelekeCreates

Have you ever wanted to redo the past? Have you ever thought you could rewind the years? It’s interesting, I tell myself that all the time, “If I could just have done this different – oh and this too – everything would’ve changed.”

Urbanites The Years

Now do I think that you will take things to the extent of closing your eyes without a fight? Probably not. But just in case, cheer up emo kid.

On a more serious note, what is the past? The past is a series of events that allegedly happened open to one’s interpretation that cannot be altered. You may say, “but you don’t what I’ve been through.” No I don’t! I really don’t.

Isn’t it funny that we reminisce about the past as we read a blog post on our laptop or cellular device, afterwards we turn on our 36 inch LED TV watching our cable programming with HBO and Cinemax and afterwards hop into our $15,000 car to go get ice cream as we drive to and fro from the burbs?

Haha. I think how horrible my past is and I look at myself right now and smile. For the most part, have everything I need and most of want I want and I’m not even rich bi- gotcha. You know after all the s— of my past, I’m still here! Everything was effed up but I’m still standing, breathing, eating, tweeting, and watching the premier league. Come on now I have friends who can stand me, a family who loves me but has funny way of showing it, and a darn good life worth living.

Just like passing from a run-down town into an affluent area, if we spend all our time squinting through the back mirror we would never see the sun shining, birds singing, and the cute little grandma driving 20 in a 45.

You got one life to live. Don’t spend it reminiscing and regretting. Suck every little drop of it. You can’t rewind the years. So live your life in fast forward.

The last month of my life I have devoted myself to taking Urbanites to the top so you better peep them at urbanitesmusic.com to get their cds, merchandise, documentary on our latest album The Years, as well as a free download of our latest album The Years on our Facebook page right now or I will cut you. And another thing, if you know what’s good for you check out their videos on Vimeo that I have personally edited now! I’m Nigerian, I might just pull out a spear or something.

In a future post we will go in depth on the next Coldplay from Chi-town but for now we will hold in you in deep, longing, captivating suspense.

Catch me in Twitosphere, Michael Adeleke, @AdelekeCreates if you’re into delicious insight, dry humor, and footy. If not, don’t bother.

Well it’s that time of the year. No, not to go back to mind-numbing universities, long sleeve shirts, or THROWBALL. Yeah I know you didn’t like that last one.

This is the time of year to focus on the real football. The football played not with the hands but with the feet. The football that puts an entire city on the edge of their seat and makes grown men throw themselves around like little girls. The football that can excite a town, a nation, a world. My friends, FOOTBALL IS BACK!

Now you may say, “Soccer is so boring” in your typical, whiny, American accent. But as usual, YOU ARE WRONG!

You see, all your life some crackpot “friend” or “relative” told you that you should watch the MLS and the World Cup. Now don’t get me wrong, the MLS is improving and the World Cup has national pride. But that literally is the equivalent of watching Double A baseball and no-hitters all the time. Yeah, not very exciting.

The footy you should be watching resides in the heart of England. The Barclays Premier League – oh what a majestic name – is the most exciting, entertaining, enthralling league on the planet. Many a friend who had erroneously hated soccer now watch more Premier League footy than I do. I’m telling you, it’s contagious.

So on Saturday mornings, don’t sleep in or get your car washed. Turn your television to ESPN2 or Fox Soccer if you have it and watch the world’s most popular domestic league. Also there are many websites on line where you can stream the games for free. If interested, we can discuss in greater detail at an undisclosed location in the future (Twitter).

Let us not kid ourselves as Americans. If the ENTIRE world loves one game, maybe they are on to something. Eh?

So now me and my fellow I Hate Church writers will try to predict the future before your very eyes. Enjoy.

Tell that person you like, love or are thinking about that you love them, like them, think about them or how important they are in your life. I know you have missed the perfect moment, I know you have missed the time to say the right words, at the right place, at the right time. Screw timing and don’t leave it unsaid. You just don’t know how much it may make their day and more importantly; how much it will make yours. That is it for today. Make the phone call, send a text or just walk up to them, look em in the eye and tell ‘em how valuable they are to you. Get honest with yourself, with your friends and the people who mean the most to you. Regret is the worst present to take with you to your grave or your bed. Smile, and have some fun with it.

Halloween is over, and we have the candy in our desk drawers, pockets, lunches, purses, kitchens and book bags to prove it. See how long that lasts. If you’re like me, those mini-snickers vanish faster than the King Size; how does this happen?

It’s Monday, we are caught in a hypo-glycemic haze, attempting to field phone calls, check weekend tweets and facebook status updates. Where did the weekend go, what happened, what was memorable, what was not memorable, what did I eat, who did I talk to, what was I supposed to do, what was I supposed to not do and why didn’t that number save in my phone? #fail I included a few noteworthy Bible thoughts from this weekend of heaps of sugar.

What is the state of your heart?
2 Corinthians 9:7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Luke 6:45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

Don’t say that you want to give, but go ahead and give! You’ll never catch up with a mere hope. – Mark Twain

There is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. – Jack Welch

Keep it simple today, get back to your rhythm and refocus your dream. Imagine what your competitors are building and do it better.

I heard a story this past week from Peter J.Daniels concerning a conversation he had with W. Clement Stone. W. Clement Stone was a long time friend of Mr. Daniels and when Mr. Daniels asked Mr. Stone if he had any life regrets, Mr. Stone responded; “I wish I would have dreamed bigger.”

Can you dream bigger, how and why aren’t you?

I recently finished one book and picked up another. This caused me to also update the tab at the bottom right of this page of **** I am reading. As I was updating my literature section, I discovered that I have never articulated why or what I am reading. For all you know, I could be jacking some other guys “books to read” list. Let me explain briefly the how and why, to what I am reading. Icon #1 Amazon’s Kindle (3G,Wifi)

The future of books is electronic whether you like it or not. This does not mean you have to jump aboard this ship as of yet but soon enough you will. Remember encyclopedia’s or cassette tapes or even CD’s for that matter. Another Bob Dylan melody of “Times are a Changin’” will elude to the only absolutes in our lives: death, taxes and change.

I don’t personally own a Kindle. Truth be told, our family owns an iPad (it was a gift). I see more value in a Kindle because of my long standing relationship with Amazon and their amazing bookstore. When I want a book, I think Amazon. I found this article in the New Yorker and think it is worth noting concerning the future of books and the ever conflicting battle between iPad and Kindle. Publish or Perish by Ken Auletta.

#2 Evernote

We all take notes for something in our lives. I came across this application back when I was using an iPhone (1st generation). Tim Ferris, author of 4 Hour Workweek and personal brandologist made a strong suggestion to snag this application. This was the first app to wirelessly sync my notes on my iPhone or Android device to my Mac. I never worried if it was saved or synced. Scribble your notes and go.

#3 Blink by Malcolm Gladwell

Life is so unpredictably predictable. Humans make decisions or purchases after consuming positive recommendation from Trust Agents (Chris Brogan). Depending on the level of their Trust Agents will determine how many of these agents will cause an individual to make a purchase.

Case in point. A Trust Agent named Sean Everett tweeted a while ago concerning books he was reading. I took notice but didn’t buy the book because I had just bought 4 or 5 books to read. A month later, I looked through who was speaking at the Willowcreek Leadership Summit (Trust Agent #2) and discovered Malcolm Gladwell spoke the previous year.
Fiction has always been my weak point. I never had anyone close in my life who recommended fiction. I loved watching books that were made to films but would never read the book before it was a film. There was a total disconnect from fiction until recently.

Fiction to me now is a huge break from the left side and an oasis for the right side of my brain. Fiction fills the right side of the tank with fun and abnormal thinking. It has been amazing thus far and this book by Neil Gaiman is complex, dark and interesting.

I discovered fiction from friends of mine who know me, as well as some of my heroes. Heroes can be loosely defined by Seth Godin as blogs you follow or people you watch and emulate. Heroes to me are extremely helpful when I am blizzardly lost in my attempt of discovering a new fiction book. Study who you follow and act even if they are talking to someone else. Blogs in my estimation are, “encouraged eavesdropping.”

Before you shake your head or put down your iguana bowl that is still smoking with one or two puffs remaining, think about the word “dream”. It’s one of the craziest words in the human dictionary. It is a word with mystified meaning and delusional perceptions. Nowadays all we think about is Christopher Nolan’s latest feature Inception and his new found death grip of the dream world. Is it real, a dream or something in between?

Some would say, what is the difference between getting stoned and dreaming? What is the difference between a crackhead space cadet and someone who is dreaming? What is the difference between Martin Luther King Jr and Freddie Prince Jr? Why are we so enraptured by dreams yet so terrified to discuss our dreams with others?

I included Aerosmith’s rock ballad “Dream On” below and a few interesting facts. Why is Steven Tyler dreaming and you are not? Why does everything get in the way of your dream but ABC’s new hit show My Generation somehow slips through. Your dreams take the back seat of what you eat, when you sleep, what you read, what you watch, who you hang with and even what you do in the shower. Pretty sick actually to think of what you do in the shower: but its true.

So guess what? You not only do not have a dream but the dreams you once had are by default floating farther and farther away. Most likely some ambitious young college student will pick up your idea, run with it like Usain Bolt and make himself look like a red carpet celeb while you sit and watch the next season of Jersey Shore.

Begin to exercise your privilege to dream immediately. Everyone who is not in church or some self professed Christian is dreaming. They dream how they will become the next rockstar, CEO, Google, writer, business mogul or whatever. They live their dream, breathe their dream, talk their dream and are surrounded by images of their dream. And guess what else? They despise God and everything about Him, yet they are acquiring their dream.

God is a dream giver. Check out Genesis 28 concerning Jacob and his dream. It was a confirmation of his families legacy. It was a reminder of greatness, a reminder of how great his God is, a reminder of his value, what he has and what his future holds for him. How much greater is our God to deliver dreams to those he loves.

We should have dreams so incredible, so in line with the pictures of our lives, so perfect for what we have been praying for that we cannot deny the greatness of our God. We should expect God to give us dreams, to confirm our dreams and to show us the future. The problem is not the dream giver, the problem is those who see dreams and tuck them away never to explore their true value.

You don’t have to be stoned to dream. You just have to be ready to explore, work, and invest everything you have. God doesn’t want a little bit of you, requires the full signature. Let your yes be yes and your no be no.

Dream uncontrollably, Dream effortlessly, Dream with God’s perspective and be ready to work harder than the Beatles in an Sierra Leone, Africa diamond mine.

PS: If you want a classic book that you cannot find but is amazing, get your hands on This Book.

AEROSMITH DREAM ON FACTS:

Regarding the meaning of this song, Tyler explained: “It’s about the hunger to be somebody: Dream until your dreams come true.” He added, “This song sums up the s–t you put up with when you’re in a new band. Most of the critics panned our first album, and said we were ripping off the Stones. That’s a good barometer of my anger at the press, which I still have. ‘Dream On’ came of me playing the piano when I was about 17 or 18, and I didn’t know anything about writing a song. It was just this little sonnet that I started playing one day. I never thought that it would end up being a real song.”

This was the first single Aerosmith released. Their manager had them share a house and concentrate on writing songs for their first album. Steven Tyler had been working on this on and off for about 6 years, and was able to complete it with the help of the rest of the band.

Aerosmith was the band’s first album. It didn’t do so well, mainly because their record company didn’t promote it. Columbia records was focused on Bruce Springsteen’s first album, and put little effort into promoting this. Aerosmith was in danger of being dropped, but Columbia decided to keep them when they released this as a single and it showed promise, reaching #59 in the US.

Aerosmith first performed this at the Shaboo Inn in Willimantic, Connecticut. They were paid $175 and a bottle of gin for the show.

I can remember as a young kid first hearing about this psychotic doctor named Jack Kevorkian. We only lived a few hours from Michigan but I still recall the word euthanasia in my tiny 8 year old brain. Of course at that time in my life I thought this was either a new country in Asia or some sort of Chinese dish at Mo’s Noodle Shop.

HBO pulled together an incredible collection of footage concerning Dr. Jack Kevorkian and produced You Don’t Know Jack, starring Al Pacino and Susan Sarandon. If you have HBO and are curious as I am concerning this eccentric doctor, scope this film out. If you are unfamiliar with Dr. Jack Kevorkian for the sake of time, click here and brief yourself.

After I finished watching dozens of people in excruciating pain tell Dr. Jack Kevorkian they no longer wanted to live I was bombarded with my own brain grenades. Is Dr. Jack Kevorkian playing God? Could God heal them? Are we allowing people to live longer than they should because of drugs aka pain medications?

Who decides when a sick/painful individual has had enough? If we dope them up long enough does that constitute as life?

What about euthanasia and the church perspective? What happens if a doctor is out of control with his patients and kills people for the sake of power? Can euthanasia be America’s form of genocide? How can you believe in a God who heals and endorse euthanasia? What does the Bible say concerning suicide?

Look, lets be honest. These are sobering thoughts that will spin your head like a tornado. If you are young, you think this will never happen. If you are old, you don’t want someone else to decide the end point to your life. Nevertheless, these are questions and thoughts from hurting people.

In addition, I fully recommend this podcast by Craig Groeschel from a few weeks back. This series titled FAQ deals with suicide and what the Bible says concerning suicide. Craig does not discuss euthanasia directly but instead sheds light on suicide from a Biblical perspective.

First of all, you should know suicide does exist in the Bible. Second of all, you should know it is unclear what happens after you take your own life. Take a look at the following individuals who took their own life.

Abimelech, Judges 9:52-54 (Refused to be killed by the stone of a woman)

Samson, Judges 16:25-30 (Died for a cause he believed in and later mentioned in the Hall of Fame of Faith in Hebrews 11:32.

The greatest gift is a passion for reading. It is cheap, it consoles, it distracts, it excites, it gives you knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is a moral illumination. – Elizabeth Hardwick

If you don’t have a target you will have no idea what to shoot for. If you don’t have the right target you will travel down a road in which you may not truly want. Peter J. Daniels refines goals and will get you to where you want to go. This is an old gunslinger book, one of the original goal setting manuals.
