iHateChurch: What is your favorite communication scripture pertaining to Jesus?

RW: Well, there is no doubt that Jesus was the greatest communicator of all time. He took on a very unorthodox and creative approach to communicating. For instance in those days most teaching (communicating) took place at the temple, while we know Jesus spent time teaching there he also changed up his setting quite a bit.

He went from a boat, to a garden, to the city even onto a mountain (I mean you talk about stage de sign lol Jesus was way ahead of us). He preached really hard sermons, really loving sermons, really confusing sermons, really simple sermons, really deep sermons. He used illustrations, props, video’s, skits, special songs maybe even secular ones lol…. He was to say the least a very creative communicator. To narrow it down to one verse that highlights his communication brilliance is practically impossible.

One verse that comes to mind that I have always loved is Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and h umble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

I love this verse because Jesus was so smart and relevant in his communication. He is trying to explain that so many of us carry weight around. Maybe its guilt or fear. Who knows, we all deal with different things, but he is saying turn your junk over to me and I will heal you and make you whole. He says take my yoke upon you.

You see a yoke was a piece of hardware that farmers used for a pair of oxen to carry a load in a straight path. It was a very common devise that everyone in that day was familiar with. Jesus always uses the familiar things to teach us that which is unfamiliar (we as preachers should follow this pattern in our communication). So what he is saying to them is take my yoke, which is my teaching and my life and do it. Why?

Because I am gentle and humble in heart. I will guide you in a straight path. My yoke is easy he says and my burden is light. Jesus desperately desires those that are broken and hurting to come to him. He wants to restore them and put them back together!!!

Lifebulbs flash in my mind on United Airlines’ Boeing 757-500, row 11 seat c. Hiccups of life smash on my windshield and automatic wipers quickly clear them away.

Does this mean those moments will never happen? Is this a smoke n mirror magic show or glimmers of faith?

I loaded my thoughts these past 4 hours with notions of serving others continuously, creating supersonic relationships. I was encouraged ++ to know my creator Jesus Christ is interested in the +details of my life.

The details and details and details and details of my life even when I find them inconsequential. Yes and yes ++

Special Thanks to my wife Chantelle, Erwin Mcmanus and Francis Chan who inserted a handy drive of information in my spirit. This canvas I call life… this life whispers… and whispers are reality.

America is Pro-LifePosted by holaratcha in uncategorized On May 17th, 2009

:: GREAT JOB CHURCHES OF AMERICA ::

What a shock to open up my Macbook, hit {home} and view front page of the New York Time “Opinonator” and read, “Is America becoming a Pro-Life nation”? Of course my curiosity peaked and I scrolled and clicked to read. Apparently Gallop Polls conducted a revised study of Americans views on abortion.

The current views show 51% of America says they are Pro-Life and 42% saying Pro-Choice.

As a church, we must continue this momentum, and show our love of “Life“. The destiny of a life is limitless and a major victory for America embracing Pro-Life. Generation X, Y thanks Generation B (Baby Boomers) for their relentless pursuit of Life.

Here is the link for the NY Times article, check it out…

Most recently I was able to get my hand on an early edition of Hillsong United latest album entitled a_Cross//The_Earth and to my surprise it was just what the doctor ordered.

Such a great site to see a group of Jesus influencers uniting churches locally and globally through the name of Jesus. Does it get any better than that? It is almost the most cheeseball statement you can ever say, but when its true…. its so harrrrrd. People are actually doing this…. it really is possible, question is…. will you join?

i Hate Church publicly applauds the team of Hillsong United, ::starting from the top with Pastor Brian Houston and his leadership team:: along with Joel Houston, Reuben Morgan, Matt Crocker, Sam Knock, Braden Lang & Heather Stevens, Dylan Thomas, Andrew HoodTroy Munns, Brandon Gillies, Benjamin Tennikoff

Now is our time church to root eachother on, to United and mobilize the name of Jesus a_cross//The_earth. Exciting times!! Be sure to download the album from iTunes next week when it launches in the United States.

It’s our turn. …
